Who will Alabama sign at QB in 2020?

Alabama sits atop the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Ranking thus far in the 2020 recruiting cycle, a position it’s held for quite some time.
Luckily for the Tide, there is no shortage of options on the table that the staff has been in pursuit of this spring.
Here, BamaOnLine takes a look at a handful of the more intriguing names at the quarterback position to track this offseason.
Bryce Young, 5-star QB, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei — USC commit
Height/Weight: 6-feet, 176 pounds
Rating: No. 1 dual-threat quarterback, No. 27 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings
There are some similarities to the 2017 cycle when it comes to quarterback recruiting for the Tide. Three years ago after Jake Fromm flipped to Georgia, Alabama went out and landed the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the country in Tua Tagovailoa. Fast forward a few years, one-time UA commit Carson Beck decommitted from the program, ultimately choosing the Bulldogs, and now Alabama is once again after the nation’s top-ranked dual-threat signal caller in Young. The only problem this time around — he’s committed to USC. Now, Young isn’t shutting the door on anyone, especially Alabama considering his connection to new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, not to mention an opportunity to likely come in and compete for the starting job right away. Young’s father recently told BamaOnLine that there’s a “good chance” the family will be on campus in Tuscaloosa for A-Day next weekend. The five-star quarterback will likely take official visits prior to the season in order to focus on his team.
“Really he’s just telling me how he feels like I can fit in the offense, telling me the things that they want to do trying to keep the offense similar as they did with Tua (Tagovailoa),” Young said of Sarkisian’s message. I’ve seen Tua a lot, love his game, I love how they play. It’s really intriguing to me.”
Jaden Casey, 3-star QB, Calabasas (Calif.) — Fresno State commit
Height/Weight: 6-foot-1, 185 pounds
Rating: No. 10 dual-threat quarterback, No. 453 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings
Another West Coast QB option, Casey is an intriguing prospect at the position with a lot of upside. The Tide recently offered the three-star prospect.
“I feel honored,” Casey told BamaOnLine. “You know, growing up as a big football fan you see Coach (Nick) Saban run a great program … obviously the best in the country. Them seeing your talent and offer you a scholarship meant a lot to me. I wasn’t shocked, I was more like ‘Wow, hard work is paying off.’ I was definitely starstruck to get offered by Nick Saban.”
Casey maintains a firm commitment to the Bulldogs. He originally committed to the program to learn under head coach Jeff Tedford who coached Aaron Rodgers at Cal.
Don’t be surprised to see him return to Tuscaloosa for an official visit.
CJ Dixon, 4-star QB, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson
Height/Weight: 6-foot-5, 210 pounds
Rating: No. 12 pro-style quarterback, No. 345 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite
Dixon was originally set to visit Tuscaloosa earlier this spring but had a scheduling conflict that didn’t allow it. He tells BamaOnLine he plans to return soon, though. The Tide offered Dixon at camp last summer and has kept tabs on the Peach State signal caller ever since. Florida, Georgia and Ohio State have also offered. The Gators picked up the most recent 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction.
Malik Hornsby, 4-star QB, Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 175 pounds
Rating: No. 4 dual-threat quarterback, No. 117 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings
Hornsby nabbed an offer from the Crimson Tide earlier this year. Speaking to those close to his recruitment and the feeling is the Tide will likely receive one of the Lone Star State signal caller’s official visits. Texas A&M looks to be the favorite as it stands, but Hornsby spoke very highly of the Tide when we caught up with him.
“My interest in their school is great,” Hornsby said earlier this year. “They’re a high standard. They’re Bama. There’s not much more to say.”
Jacolby Criswell, 3-star QB, Morrilton (Ark.)
Height/Weight: 6-foot-1, 203 pounds
Rating: No. 9 dual-threat quarterback, No. 390 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings
Criswell has yet to receive an offer from the Tide, but that hasn’t tarnished any interest he has in the program. The three-star passer was on campus last month for an unofficial visit.
“I loved everything about it,” Criswell told BamaOnLine. “I could see myself there along with some guys from Arkansas who I have a good relationship with. They’re coming down sometime this month to see me throw. (Nick) Saban said, along with a couple guys, I’m one they want. They said they loved me when I camped last year with (Dan) Enos, but with the coaching change, Sark wants to see me throw.”
